Well we posted on the Loaded Trolley Facebook page yesterday (yesterday being NYE) that todays post would be a review of the 1.75 Litre bottle of Kirkland Signature Margarita Mix that we bought to toast the New Year with, since neither of us likes Champagne much.
According to the bottle this Golden Margarita Mix is ‘ready-to-drink’, and made with Gold Tequila, premium Triple Sec, Lime juice and Cane sugar.
At 12.7% Alc by Vol the label suggests the bottle contains 17.5 standard drinks. We drank the entire bottle between two of us over the course of about 5 hours, and while we had definitely had ‘too much’ to drink, we certainly weren’t what you would call roaring drunk. The mix was very, very easy to drink – we had it over ice and I must admit I probably enjoyed it slightly more once the ice had melted a bit and diluted the flavour a little. It tasted just like a margarita should – the tequila was noticeable, as was a hint of Triple Sec, and the sugar was not overdone meaning it retained the sourness you expect from a margarita.
At $31.49 it was definitely a fun party drink, and I expect we will have some again over the course of the Summer.
Great mix for parties and making a different version of Sangria. Always a hit with young crowd who like to taste new and experiment. Have been using for last 3 years and have previously bought from US Costco.
I’ve had 3 botttle of the stuff. It’s quite good. I like it on ice, my wife prefers it blended with ice so I just add a shot or 2 of tequila. The Smirnoff(??) Mojito mix at Costco is similarly good.
It’s worth noting that this Margarita pre-mix is currently on sale until 3rd Febuary 2013. They have knocked $5 off the bottle making it $26.49. Awesome value considering it is 17.5 standard drinks (about $1.51 per standard drink).
