Another very nice wine in the Kirkland Signature Range. This one disappeared far too quickly – it was very smooth and easy to drink with a lovely aftertaste. As usual we decanted first, although after the first quick sip we couldn’t wait to let it breathe before pouring glasses.
This estate-produced Zinfandel comes from a collection of archival vineyards that have been home to Zinfandel for more than 150 years. Kirkland Signature Old Vine Zinfandel is produced from low-yielding vines that average 45 years of age. This classic Old Vine Zinfandel has opaque shades of deep red-purple fruit with a bouquet and palate structure of blackberry, cassis, blueberry and chocolate, which is supported by vanilla and spice notes from oak maturation and lifted by bright acidity and supple, ripe tannins. Drink now through 2016.
