I was a little unsure of this to begin with, maybe because we opened it about 30 seconds before we planned to drink it, instead of giving it time to breathe (and no we didn’t decant it either). My first sip I found to be somewhat woody. However, after a few games on the Christmas toy (an Xbox) I came back for another go at it to find a totally different wine in my glass to what I was expecting. This blend is a fantastic BIG RED and went wonderfully with the Boxing Day BBQ menu we had planned. A beautiful BBQ wine with a hint of spice on the finish – good length and a distinct mocha element. Definitely a favorite and I will be looking for Costco to stock more of this wine as it will be interesting to taste the later years.
