Toshiba Ultrabooks

I’m just going to say it…’Ultrabook’ laptops are cool. So thin and so light with great features. Costco Australia is offering up 3 models of Toshiba Ultrabooks in their Docklands store at the moment.

We had quick look online for a comparison between Costco’s price for their Australian customers and competitors like Officeworks and Harris Technology and found those retailers don’t even come close. Not only that, the comparative models of Toshiba’s Ultrabooks at Officeworks and Harris Technology didn’t even match up to the spec level of the Costco offerings, where the competitiors are offering lower specification CPU’s, smaller hard drives and less RAM for similar models, with a higher price tag. One of the offering at Harris Technology was also ex-demo, and they still can’t match Costco’s price.

Have a look at the following tables below for a comparison of similar models of Toshiba Ultrabooks offered at Costco Australia, Officeworks and Harris Technology. If you are in the market for one of these, it certainly makes the cost of an annual Australian Costco membership worthwhile.

  1. I am wondering if Costco has done a global deal with Toshiba on these and Costco are the only ones in Australia with the top spec Z930s. Are you still in the market for a laptop Nathan? I plan on posting prices for more of Costco’s laptop offerings in the coming weeks.

  2. The Dell is and interesting concept, but is it trying to do too much in the one package? Over 1.5kg for a 12″ Ultrabook is starting to push it. Those Toshibas are almost down to 1.1kg an so very thin.

  3. I’ve seen some 13’s that weigh in at 2kg, so 1.5kg doesn’t seem bad. The big catch for me is that I want the 1080p display and the vast majority of 13’s are only SD.
